The Hope and Justice Foundation
The Hope and Justice Foundation is named after two much loved British Palestinians; Amal and Hatem Yassine. Their names translated from Arabic are Amal, meaning hope, and Hatem, meaning Justice or Determination.
Unfortunately, they tragically passed away in a car accident on 20th July 2022 and left behind a huge void in the hearts of the Muslim community within Oxford. For those fortunate to know them, they were the most humblest and hospitable couple. A spirit of always giving and expecting nothing in return they spent their lives selflessly helping others and giving to charity.
As their daughter, I am determined for their name to live on. We miss them dearly and they too would have been as devastated as we are to witness the atrocities happening today in Palestine, Lebanon and the region as a whole. In memory of them, we are setting up a charity to fundraise in their name so they may be rewarded Sadaqa Jariya as it facilitates help and support and to give a chance to the victims of Gaza, in the first instance. Over time, we aim to expand to other territories, insha’Allah. Our first project will be based in Egypt.Thousands of Palestinians have fled from Gaza into Egypt as a consequence of the genocide started after October 7th of 2023.We are travelling to Egypt and will be based there for a few months. Our aim is to collect funds to provide food, clothing and even medical treatment for these people. As we mobilise on the ground, there will be plenty of updates on the progress and video and picture footage and evidence of how your money is being used to help the people. Long term we intend to move beyond providing short term needs and into strategic projects such as accommodation and how they can become income generating. This will all depend on how generous your contributions are.
